We at Africa 3030 have added oral health and prevention to our multi faceted efforts to improve the health of our children and the local population.  We have instituted a supervised tooth brushing program.  We do oral exams on all our children to monitor decay levels  and to identify and treat those children at risk for oral disease.  We were amazed and overjoyed to discover that our children have lower decay rates than in most developed countries with huge manpower and monetary outlays. This is due to the absence of sweet foods and drinks in their diet and should be a model for the Global North.
