David Troupin, PhD

Co-founder and Board Member of Africa 3030, David is the lab manager of the Animal Flight Group at the University of Haifa. David completed his Ph.D. in the field of conservation planning at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in 2015 under the supervision of Prof. Yohay Carmel. In his Ph.D. he examined different approaches for selecting conservation priority areas under future uncertainty in urban development and vegetation dynamics. David did his M.Sc. in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem under the supervision of Prof. Ran Nathan on population genetics in an Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis). His main research interests are spatial ecology and conservation biology. Besides work and scientific research, David spends his time playing musical instruments both solo and with his band, practicing jiu jitsu, doing carpentry work, travelling, and spending time with his family.

Maya Savir

Maya Savir, born 1973, was raised in Jerusalem, Ottawa and New York. She lives in Tel Aviv, where she shares her life with her husband and four children. Maya holds a B.A. in psychology and philosophy from Tel Aviv University. She has extensive experience in development work and humanitarian relief serving for a decade as director of JustSpirulina, an NGO working with malnourished children in disadvantaged communities, primarily in Africa; in the Israeli civil society heading until recently the Knowledge Center at JFN-Israel, a funders network focusing on strategic, impactful philanthropy; and in the human rights and peace community in Israel as an activist, a writer and a lecturer.Maya writes fiction for children, young adults and adults, as well as narrative non-fiction. “On Reconciliation” is her seventh book. It delves into the conflicts and reconciliation processes of South Africa and Rwanda and then returns to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, offering insights about what it means to live in conflict and what reconciliation demands. She has been a peace activist and human rights advocate all of her life; she still believes we can imagine and create a just future.

Dr. Barry Gutterman

Dr. Gutterman is a dentist driven by a lifelong passion for promoting dental health and preventing disease, particularly among underserved communities. Throughout his career, he has served diverse populations, including: Indigenous populations like the Navajo Nation, patients in psychiatric hospitals, elderly and disabled individuals, children and adults with dental anxieties, the Maasai people of Kenya, children facing malnutrition in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and underprivileged children in Israel. Dr. Gutterman's commitment extends beyond clinical care. He actively contributes to global health initiatives as a member of Africa 3030 and the Negba Foundation, where he has championed the introduction of dental health programs. Beyond dentistry, Dr. Gutterman holds a deep appreciation for the wonders of nature and the wisdom of African cultures. He believes these communities offer valuable lessons in living sustainably and in harmony with the environment.

Idit Toledano, PhD

Idit specializes in African art history, is the curator and gallery director at The African Studies Gallery in Tel Aviv. Idit teaches courses on African art in various forums and is a pedagogic instructor for history teachers at Beit Berl College.Involved in several projects in Africa, including curating the permanent exhibition in the Beats of Beads Art Centre, Maasai Mara, Kenya. Co-initiated and co-facilitating exchange programs between the School of Fine and Industrial Art at Makerere University Kampala, various department at Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem and the Department of Textile Design, Shenkar Academy of art and technology.
